Our Clients & Some Of The Ongoing Projects

Our Clients

K4B’s client base includes land developers, municipal partners, architects, civil consultants, energy corporations, and traffic management companies, with active projects in Vancouver, Abbotsford, Surrey, Burnaby, the City and Township of Langley, the City and District of North Vancouver, Vernon, and Kelowna, BC. K4B is an approved engineering consultant for FortisBC’s Custom Programs, is on the City of Surrey’s list of prequalified consultants for transportation engineering services, and is a prequalified supplier for professional consulting services for capital projects for the City of Vernon.

Traffic Data Collection, ATR and TMC Counts

K4B is staffed and experienced to provide traffic data collection, processing and analysis services. Our clients main focus are ATR (Automatic Traffic Recorder, or Link) counts and TMC (turning movement counts) at intersections including pedestrian classification breakdown that help road authorities to perform crosswalk or traffic signal warrant analysis. Our equipment inventory includes multiple MetroCount traffic counters for ATR counts and Miovision Scout Plus systems for automated traffic data collection.

Transportation Analysis and Modelling Services

Our staff has extensive experience in performing traffic analysis and simulation using tools such as Synchro/Sim Traffic, VISSIM, AIMSUM, SYDRA or any other suitable tool to assess delay, queuing, and potential traffic rerouting. Analysis performed for our municipal partners typically include review of pedestrian and bicycle flows and network functionality, transit network priority measures and facility access, signal timing plan reviews and traffic signal coordination improvements. We also perform network screening to identify high risk locations, and recommendation of initiatives and improvements to improve road safety.

Traffic Management Plans (TMP) & Risk Assessments

We prepare traffic management plans, traffic control plans, written strategies, risk assessments and TMP category assessments. We also provide full administrative services including preparation and submission of street use permit/traffic obstruction permit application package to road authorities. TMPs prepared by our team are currently being implemented in Surrey, Delta, and North Vancouver, BC.

Applying Engineering Seal to Traffic Management Plans

We offer professional engineering services including supervision and review of TMPs and traffic control plans prepared by others, and applying professional engineering sign and seal as required by the road authorities issuing the permit. Typically, TMPs Category 3 require engineering seal in British Columbia, and several road authorities in Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley require applying engineering seal to Category 2 TMPs. We have active collaboration with over 10 Traffic Management Companies in Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and plans prepared by others and sealed by us are currently implemented in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, and Provincial Highways in BC.

Traffic Signal Design

Our traffic engineering staff has extensive experience in traffic signal design, contract administration, and field services during construction. Few of the ongoing traffic signal design projects include the traffic signal upgrade project for the District of North Vancouver at Lonsdale Avenue and West Queens Road, and 134 Street at 96 Avenue intersection upgrade project for a Developer in Surrey, BC.

Streetlighting Design

K4B provides street lighting, intersection lighting, multi use pathway lighting design for land developers and municipal partners at very competitive rates and timelines. Our designs meet all applicable requirements outlined in RP-8, MMCD and the specific municipal design requirements. Some of our active projects include street lighting design for land developers as part of the municipal offsite requirements in Surrey, Langley, North Vancouver, Kelowna and many more BC municipalities and road authorities.

Sport Field Lighting Design

We have several sport field lighting design projects including basketball and tennis court lighting designs for municipal Parks Departments in Lower Mainland. Our team closely follows latest industry standards outlined in RP-6-22. Whether you have a need for retrofitting the old MH fixtures with new LED lights, or you need a brand new sport field lighting design, our team can definitely assist.
